Therefore, let us look at different ways on how to <i>express habit\u00a0<\/i>in English. &#8211; Let&#8217;s determine your future.\u00a0<em>(wink)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Present habit<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present Simple (the most common form):<br \/>\n<i>I always visit my grandmother on Thursdays.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Present Continuous with <i>always<\/i> to express annoying habit:<br \/>\n<i>She\u2019s always asking me for money.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Unstressed <i>\u2018ll<\/i> to express typical behaviour:<br \/>\n<i>He\u2019ll spend hours doing nothing.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Stressed <i>will<\/i> to express irritation:<br \/>\n<i>He will keep asking me for money.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Past habit<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><\/i><i>used to + <\/i>infinitive particularly emphasising the idea of \u2018no longer true\u2019:<br \/>\n<i>When I was young, I used to go to the local barber\u2019s.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compared to:<\/p>\n<p><i>Once, when I was young, I went to London. <\/i>(used to cannot be used, because this is one finished past event)<\/p>\n<p><i>When I was young, I went to the local barber\u2019s. <\/i>(possible, but unclear &#8211; does it mean once or often?)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><\/i><i>would <\/i>preferably when we want to be \u2018nostalgic\u2019:<br \/>\n<i>Those days in Rome were wonderful.
